Apply now for the UNDP Internship Program 2022

Students and recent graduates can experience the community and mission of UNDP through internships. Internships may be completed in UNDP Headquarters in New York, regional hubs, or country offices.

The selection of interns is competitive. The UNDP seeks candidates who show interest in both our mission and the field of development. Internships with the UNDP should end after six months. In exceptional circumstances, internships that are being completed for academic credit may last nine months.

The following academic qualifications must be met at the time of application for UNDP internships:

  1. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a university degree (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); 1. Be enrolled in a graduate programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); 2.
  2. Have earned a university degree as described in (a) and (b) above; if chosen, you must begin your internship within a year of receiving your degree.

The three working languages of the UNDP are English, French, and Spanish, and applicants must be fluent in at least one of these languages, preferably two. It is advantageous to be fluent in Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, or other Eastern European language.

Financial support:

UNDP interns are given a monthly stipend that is based in part on their job station.

Service providers hired by UNDP are regarded as independent contractors, and their terms of engagement are contractually defined. Although the terms of service supplied to staff members are different from those for service contractors, the market in which the modality is utilised is competitive.
